Paediatric First Aid
Course Description
This course is designed for those who work extensively with children. The key elements covered are:
- Definition of paediatric First Aid
- Importance of preventing cross infection
- Need to record incidents and actions
- Casualty Assessment
- Life saving priorities (DRSABC)
- Dealing with an unconscious casualty
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Bleeds; Burns; Choking and Shock
- Minor injuries
- Childhood illnesses including meningitis
- Managing those children who are not a casualty
This is a two day course held at our Training Centre 4 times per year. The course includes a number of real life scenarios
requiring a high degree of practical involvement. A practical exercise forms part of the assessment process.
Course content is supplemented by a Handbook for future reference.
Who should attend
Parents; child carers and others who work extensively with children.
What to bring/wear
Pen, paper; lunch. Wear casual clothing (ladies should wear trousers/shorts.)
Certification
On successful completion of the course you will receive a qualification in First Aid valid for 3 years.
